All children starting in grade one must be six years old on or before August 1, 2008. Entering kindergartners must be five on or before August 1, 2008, need to have an orange health card filled out by their physician, and must have received the following shots: 4 DTP, 4 oral polio, 1 measles, 1 rubella, 1 mumps, and the hepatitis B series. (Also note that state law now requires that all first grade students receive the hepatitis vaccination.) Students whose birthdays fall after the stated date will not be considered for acceptance into the kindergarten program unless all testing procedures and interviews required by the county schools are completed and acceptance is authorized according to their criteria. (5-94) A non-refundable pre-enrollment fee of $25 is charged per child to ensure a place is held for the student. (05)
